Weekly Principal’s Reminders 11.28.21

Hello Sanderlin Sea Turtle Learning Community,

I hope that everyone had a restful and rejuvenating break and that you were all able to spend some time with friends and family! I wanted to send a quick reminder that we come back from Thanksgiving Break tomorrow – Monday, November 29th. Please make sure that you have your student to school on time and ready for instruction at 8:55. We highly encourage you to get your child to school at the 8:25 opening to ensure that your child has enough time to get their breakfast and get settled in class for the 8:55 bell. Please note that your child cannot be dropped off before 8:25.

Please don’t forget that we have also changed our lunch procedures and students will not be eating lunch outside. Level 2 Volunteers can come to eat with their students on Fridays if they choose to do so.

We will be celebrating students this week who completed the Thanksgiving Challenge and having conversations with students about the assessments they will be taking before Winter Break. Our goal is for EVERY student to demonstrate growth from this semester of learning. We want them to try their hardest on these assessments and we will be celebrating all students who made growth in a big celebration in January. Please make sure you speak to your child about how important it is to stay focused on learning in the next few weeks up to Winter Break!

A couple of other exciting announcements:

1) We want to welcome Mr. Kevin Eager to the 6th grade Science and Math position. Mr. Eager is coming to us as an experienced Middle School Science Teacher and we are very excited to welcome him to our Sea Turtle Family.

2) And as one comes, another long time member of the Sanderlin Staff will be leaving us. It is with bittersweet emotions that I announce the retirement of Mr. Nataraj-Allen. Mr. Nataraj-Allen has been our PYP Music teacher for many years at Sanderlin and has touched the lives of almost every family in the school. While we are sad he is leaving us, we are extremely excited for Mr. Nataraj-Allen and his family as they take on new adventures in life. Mr. Nataraj-Allen will be announcing his retirement to the students this week and his final day will be Dec. 16th. We plan to have various celebrations around campus in the next few weeks to honor Mr. Nataraj-Allen. Please take a moment to wish him well in this next chapter of his life!!

I am looking forward to seeing the kids back at school tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Carrie A. Cormier
